Getting started

Mission Statement
My soul mission is to inspire my readers to live the life that they have dreamed by providing them with the tools necessary to live their life with purpose and live the life they imagined.

About me
Well let me start of by saying that I did not grow up a little rich kids with all the opportunities.  I grew up in a middle class family in the country.  I knew what it was like to work for what you had and not have life just handed to me.  I competed in sports growing up and started my first business selling worms to fishermen when I was in middle school, that was actually pretty good money.
I never really thought I was going to become someone of great success as I compared myself to some of my peers that had everything going for them, well off parents, free rides to college because their parents worked at the local university and parents with local political influence etc.  I don’t think it was until I joined the US Army and started working my way up the ladder and having some success did I realize that the world is really yours for the taking.  In the Army generally speaking there were no limits and their motto was so true “Be all that you can be”.  It didn’t matter if you were black, white, asian or Hispanic, it didn’t matter if your parents were wealthy or you were a poor farmer kid growing up.  The opportunity to advance yourself were right there, all you had to do is ask.  That is where I took my first college course, for free as a matter of fact.
As time progressed I finished up my full time duty with the Army and went to college.  After college I got commissioned as an officer and went off to flight school to fly helicopters for the Army.  As time went on and I compared myself to my peers that I grew up with I noticed that they were becoming jealous of my journey.  Now let me be clear, it is and never was an attempt to make anyone jealous or be better than anyone else it just turned out that some of my peers that grew up with the world handed to them eventually failed because they didn’t really have the desire or motivation to attain the life they imagined.  I believe most of them had laziness instilled in them because of the fact they were used to getting what they wanted.
Through out the last decade I have taken leaps of faith and overcome fear in many ways.  I have purchased numerous pieces of real estate that will provide cashflow for me and my offspring for generations to come. I have continued to work towards a masters degree in education so that one day I will have the opportunity to provide young curious minds how to be a well educated individual that is able to understand how to make the most out of life.
As I continue my journey my mission is to instill a can do never give up live the life you imagined spirit in everyone that I come into contact with.  As you continue to read I will share with you what I believe to be great tools that will assist you in your journey.

How do I do it?
I give you everything under the sun that I get my hands on that I believe will help you achieve your goals and aspirations.
They include tips on financial success, personal growth, physical fitness, and spiritual fitness.  I firmly believe that in order to live your best life possible you need balance.

Why do I do it?
There has always been a deep down burning desire in me to do and be the most I can in life.  I have continually pushed myself to the ends of what I thought were possible only to find I could do it and realize there is more in me.  As I look around I see the majority of my fellow peers as well as a large population of Americans in general just kind of coasting through life with no real purpose of desire.  Steve Prefontain once said “to give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift”.  His statement was related to running track and field while in college at the University of Oregon however I truly believe that his statement applies to life in general.
I chose to start writing on this topic because I knew that I had a gift and a burning desire to help others achieve and believe in themselves.  I went to college and got a degree in teaching because I loved working with young motivated adolescents and mentoring them to become the best that they can be.  I can remember one track athlete coming up to me and asking me if he should run in three events instead of two during a sectional meet.  Now I knew he was a strong athlete and he would do great in all three events but he was lacking confidence so I simply told him “a man who never took a chance never had a chance”.  Deep down I knew this kid had enough athletic ability to carry him through three events and enough heart to make him competitive.  He went on and won all three events and set two school records and eventually went on to the state meet.
When I joined the US Army they had a motto “Be All That You Can Be, In The Army” and it stuck with me.  I think it applies to life in general.  So after getting my teaching degree and bouncing around doing some teaching and coaching I realized that the first hurdle to becoming a full time teacher is to navigate the politics of the local populous in order to get an interview and if you are lucky enough to get the job.  Well after several attempts with a mixture of mostly negative results I decided I was not going to let other administrator/politicians decide my fait and I was going to continue my pursuit to educate the people around me to “Be all that they can be” through this blog.
I have seen too many people in their fifty and sixties saying man I wish I had of done this or I wish I had of done that.  I will be the first to tell you that does not have to be you!!!  I encourage you to take every opportunity as it is your last and “JUST DO IT” as the Nike moto goes.  Whether it is going to college to further your education, starting that work out plan that will lead you to a healthier life style, buying that first investment property that will pay for your retirement or your kids college fund.  Most people don’t “JUST DO IT” because of one simple word “FEAR”!  Fear is what keeps a person sitting on the sidelines of life and fear is what keeps a person saying man I wish I had of did something differently.
The underlying question is why do so many people have fear that prevents them from living the life they are meant to live.  I can tell you with absolute certainty that fear is the direct results of a lack of knowledge. Let me explain.  A man in his sixties says man I wish I had of got into real estate when I was younger I would have been so rich right now like that other guy.  I can assure you that the real reason that he did not get into real estate was because one, he did not have the knowledge of what to do and he feared he would lose money and two, the people that he was talking about it with were his friends that were broke and told him it was “too risky”.  If you are looking to increase your financial knowledge but you think of man that stuff is just dry and not interesting at all but you truly desire to be better off financially than I highly recommend the book Rich Dad Poor Dad.

It was the first book I read on the topic of how to become wealthy and it got me up and running.  It is so easy to read and I have recommended it to hundreds of other people as well.  Remember this, “free advice from a broke person is the most expensive advice you will ever pay for”.
You will hear me give you many quotes throughout your reading as I feel that some simple profound quotes can have a dramatic impact on your success in life and that is what this is all about, your success.
The who, the how, the why and now the “whats next?”
First of let me tell you that every journey must start off with a plan.  It is ok to deviate from the plan or adjust it accordingly as time goes on but have a plan to start with.  Like any successful business, and successful football team or any successful athlete they all have a plan that is a map that takes them from where they are to where they want to go. Understand that “A man without a plan, plans to fail”.
GOALS
You plan must include determining your goals.  What are some goals you want to achieve in your life time?  Are they all doable right now, in the next month or will it take years.  Start off by thinking big and writing down.  Write down your life goals on one sheet and then the goals you want to achieve in the next calendar year on another sheet.  This is a must and then post it in front of your desk where you will see it every day.  Your goals need to be broken down and categorized. Some categories I like to use are: fitness, financial, personal, military etc.  Make some categories that work for you and under each one make some bullets with a couple goals.  These need to be attainable and measureable goals, I can’t stress that enough.  If you are currently running a 10 minute mile and are 50 lbs overweight than don’t have a goal of running a mile in 4:30 in the next year because there is a damn good chance it is not going to happen.  Have a reasonable attainable and measureable goal of say running a mile in 7:30 and losing 25 lbs.  Broken down that is about 2 lbs a month or weight loss and about 15 seconds off your mile time a month.
